Math Tubs: In this station students work with manipulatives to enhance their learning of our math standards. Once students become more independent at math stations I will actually push into this station and it will become more of a small group time. These pictures are from the last few weeks during this station.
Math Games: Each week we learn a new game to play at this station. Math games are a great way to practice math fluency. Dice help us subitize numbers (recognize a given quantity instead of counting.)
Ask your child about the games they have played at math games so far.
Math Literacy: Each week students are exposed to a new math book and practice math skills that have already been introduced during this station. I will also add number writing practice to this center soon.
Science Station: The last several weeks we have been using one of our five senses during science center. We keep our science observations in a science folder at school. This will come home at the end of the year.
In the beginning while we were learning how stations worked we explored with magnets.
Then we used different viewers to explore with our sense of sight.
Last week we explored with our sense of hearing and recorded loud and quiet sounds.
This week we explored with our sense of touch and recorded things that were hard and soft.
