Math and Science Stations

Wow! We are really getting into the groove of working independently at our 5 math and science stations!!!
Here are a few pics from this week.
At computers we played Octa's Rescue to practice counting. You are welcome to explore this game at home too! http://illuminations.nctm.org/Activities.aspx?grade=1
We also have an Itouch with an app called Monkey Math they like to play.

At the math literacy station we retold the story 5 little monkeys jumping on the bed to introduce subtraction. Every time a monkey jumps off we have to say how many are left.

At our tub center we got to choose a tub and count manipulatives to match the number on the counting plate.

At game center we played a game called roll and record. The student rolls a die and records the number in some way: tally marks, pips, numeral.  The first number to the top is the winner.

In our Science center we sorted pictures of things that could be recycled and things that could not. Then each student records things that can be recycled for their science journal. Please have your child help you recycle at home!
